I think I don’t have any valid reason to employ a private investigator.
In my opinion, people usually do this when you have doubts regarding passionate affairs, family or business matters or even any need to machinate some sort of scheme against someone.
I think in Portugal the profession is not even recognized and they are not as many as in the UK for instance. I have never had any experience with any.
I consider having some sort of an investigation job as well, because I work as a controller in a financial department thus when money is not credited in the bank account as supposed to, I generally have to manage some sort of investigation, sometimes involving our staff.
I think making an investigation may be fascinating as well as dangerous in a way and delicate sometimes, since we are talking about people's private lives in the majority of cases.
I tend to respect private life so I would not like having this kind of job.
I have always considered having some sort of boring jobs. The less boring ones were perhaps the two first ones.
My first job was in a hotel reception and I had to have direct contact with customers, lots of them foreigners who could not speak a word of Portuguese or with spoken English even worse than mine. That turned out to be funny lots of times.
My second job was as a salesman in a telecommunication store. Here I think the clients were a lot less polite, but making a direct contact with clients is usually a rich experience and a good chance to train your patience. Clients can be lovely, try to cheat us, funny, bad tempered, understanding, and it is a good way to get to know people.
