Camel racing is a popular sport in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Australia, and Mongolia. Professional camel racing, like horse racing, is an event for betting and tourist attraction.
Camel races are held only during the season from October to mid-April. Camels play on sand tracks. There are no players inside the race track, the caretakers or those responsible for the camels play on the outside of the track controlling the camels by means of small robots, which weigh no more than 4 kg, and have a walkie-talkie speaker that allows owners to deliver commands to the camels during the race and give small lashes to get the camels to run more.
Camels can only run for 10 km. People can´t place bets, however they do them even when they are illegal. If you are over 18, you can participate in the races. The rider has to be small and lightweight.
