I usually live in Barcelona and I'm working at the University, most concretely, at UB's Faculty of Humanities. We are settled in an ancient building in the center of the city and we usually have very special students.
I think there are all kinds of social groups in our Faculty! For instance, while you are walking through the cloister, you can see goths, posh girls, hippies, punks and a typical Catalan social group called "cumbas" (the word comes from the song "Cumba-ya, my Lord", so common in the sixties between catholic hippies in Spain).
"Cumbas" tend to study Catalan Language, Romanic Philology or Politics. They wear hiking boots, old jeans and t-shirts with a political meaning. Some "cumbas" can't live without their guitars and they love going to the countryside and spend there their weekend, with lots of friends, around a good fire.
I hope you'll visit our Faculty some day, it's a very interesting activity to do in Barcelona!!!
