Are there yubbies, yuppies or middle youthers in your country?

I’m 37 years old, so nearly all my friends are 30-to-40-years old and some of them are middle youth’s.

They absolutely don’t know the meaning of growing up, because they don’t want to be independent of their parents, this means, for example, that they have their own flat but they go to dinner every working day, or that they keep their dirty clothes to their parent’s home where their mother washes it and irons it.

I think that some of my friends want to be independent, but they only want to profit of the advantages of been independent, but the disadvantages are better to do them at their parent’s home.

Icompletely agree with you that in our country there's a strong trend of eternal middle youth's. I'm ten years older than you and I observed exactly the same behaviour that you pint out among young professionals 10 years ago: they either stayed at home with their parents until they got married or they lived "half indepndent". I dare say that this is due to the strong family nets, that want to keep their "kids" in the nest as long as possible. As a result it takes more time to become an adult person, to be able to take your responsabilities and it becomes more difficult to change cultural patterns, in case you want or feel the need to, because parents are always present in your life and they've done so much for you.... In short, young people and middle youth in our country are more conservative in their everyday life than other European ones.
