Yuppies, yubbies and middle youth

Yuppies, yubbies and middle youth

Definitely in my country there're no yuppies anymore. The once called yuppies, are currently "ouppies" (old urban professionals). So they're are really the out thing. Here we say that someone is "politically incorrect" when acts as yuppies did in the past. What you can find nowadays, mostly in urban areas, are a kind of mix between yubbies and middle youth people: well prepared, with creative jobs, good salaries, involved with nature preservation and worried about climate changes. They have a casual look, far away from yuppies fashion, and love to live their lives in an independent manner, thinking about having their own families close to the 40's.

In my country yuppies are not death, unfortunately. They have survived mixed with middle youngs and their values, their look and their way of life is still appreciated among professionals in their 30s and 40s. On the opposite yubbies are a minority, they always have to "apologise" for having good jobs and revenues and still being for solidarity, peace and nature.

I live in a big city and unfortunately I work in an new office area, with lots of skscarpers. There are people, usually from other countries, who are dressed like a tipycal yuppie, speaking only in English. More tahn this, If you have to share the elevator with them, they usually look at you as you were a person without style, or without money if you wear a jeans or something like that. I really sorry but I hate this kind of people.

I think that yuppies, yubbies and middle youthers are everywhere. But yuppies and middle youthers are the ones who are increasing.
Everybody has got a yuppie friend (I've got more than one!) who is always talking about his fantastic job and how well he is paid (I say he because usually men are the ones who want to show that they are the best).
Middle youthers are also in fashion. There is a lot to be said about this social group. There are a lot of 30- to 40-years old Peter Pan walking around our country. They go out at Saturday nights and they are up and about. They act as teenagers and they drink as much as they can, but at the end of the night (3 or 4 in the morning) they are drunk and they aren't able to speak, dance, walk or move. So they end up sitting down and sleeping on a corner or the friend who doesn't drink alcohol, because he has to drive home that night, takes them home.

hehe... lovely description... but I disagree... being a Peter Pan does not necessarily mean that you get drunk on a weekly basis, I would say that Peter Pan syndrome also means that you refuse to grow old in terms of being more mature (like having properties or goods), and other things that keep you alive... luckily not everybody has the syndrome, otherwise this world would come quickly to an end.
