Dream interpretations

For this exercise I chose 3 webs sites. I did, mainly, based on the looks, the presentation of the html pages. I would have liked to did it based on the reputation of its creators as scientists or even because in their writings they would show the results of a thorough and serious study. At least this is what I think Freud did (I don’t know HOW he did it, but It’s what I’ve heard my whole life). On the contrary I found these sites to be related with “serious” subjects like Astrology and conspiration theories, being the last ones trendy “ thanks” (I would say sadly) to the 9-11 attacks. With this explanation I think you get a good idea of what I think about these interpretations.

I looked, also, for an interpretation of a recurring dream I had when I was younger: flying. I find curios now, that I haven’t had it for a while. I’d say I had it for the last time when I was a teenager and, although I don’t believe in these things, I was curious to see if these webs find some explanation about this.

The first two sites look like merely a recopilation of usual terms in dreamings. Like a dictionary. They are dreammoods.com and sleeps.com.

The first one explains that flying is associated with the sense of freedom you currently have in some situations you are living nowadays. The more happy you are in the dream the more powerful you feel confronting these situations. On the contrary, if you are having difficulties controlling your flight means that you feel powerless in your daylife.

The second one, in the site associated with Astrology, relates the dream with your future, being a happy dream associated with good things to come. It gives then a power to your brain that I don’t think we have at all.

The funny thing is that both of them talk about “black wings”. I never heard of anybody dreaming that. I found it funny

The third site is written by a believer of conspiracy theories but, at least, tries to interpret dreams based on Freud writings. “Surprisingly” Freud seems to relate flying to a good feeling in your present life, and puts accent in sexual connotation. I wouldn’t have expected that coming from Freud :). He even associates birds as sexual icons! I’ll never understand this particular obsession he had.

In conclusion, althoug h I’d give credit to these explanations, they don’t explain why I stopped having this kind of dream. Even if I wouldn’t feel powerful nowadays in some situations I should dream of unhappy and anxious flights, but I don’t....

Any hypothesis is appreciated :)
