3. A memorable dream
I had a memorable dream about 20 years ago. The dream was about me having a poker game with my friends. In poker, players construct hands of five cards according to predetermined rules. These hands are compared using a standard ranking system, and the player with the highest-ranking hand wins that particular deal. In a game right before I was wakened by my wife, I was able to have four of a kind of ace in my hand giving me an unexpected windfall. I do not remember what I had said in the dream, but my wife told me after waking me up that I had a loud guffaw and uttered the dream speech, “Dear every audience, four aces”. The dream per se is virtually not uncommon, but it is so unforgettable for me as my wife has been making it a joke at me saying I am a truly aficionado of poker game.
4. What do you think?
Given my personal experience, I unanimously agree with the theories of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung that dreams serve as the fulfilment of wishes and compensation for what was lacking in conscious life. Before I had the memorable dream, I must confess that I really had had poker games with friends and had watched films like “God of Gamblers” and “All for the Winner” with showbiz stars Mr Chow Yun Fat and Stephen Chow as actors. Moreover, I really fancied of having four of a kind of ace like the characters in the films.
