Macrobiotic diet is a low-fat, high fiber diet, that is predominantly vegetarian diet with high levels in grains and vegetables. It's rich in phytoestrogens from soy products. So, it's recomended for cancer and other chronic diseases.
Macrobiotic means "long life" and people interested in this diet are seeking a healthy way of eating that integrates physical, spiritual and planetary health. Among them, there are famous people such as Yoko Ono, Gywneth Paltrow, Sting and so on.
However, it has a lot of critics who think that it's a too restrictive diet that produces a lack of proteins and therefore a lack of energy. Besides, they allege that some people try the diet because they heard it can cure their disease, but research has not substantiated these claims.
