If you want to combine the Nature and possible walks with a cultural trip and find out everything of “the Romanesque”, come to “The Boi Valley”!
The Nature here is rich, all lavish, from the bottom of the Valley to the summits of the big mountains. The Boi Valley knew flourishing times during the Dark Ages, under the rule of the Erill Barons. It was a euphoric time, which left as testimony the splendid Romanesque, perpetuated in its churches in each and every village and paintings. Afterwards the Valley knew long centuries of silence, bucolic peace and anonymity. Nowadays, people talk about the Aigües Tortes National Park, the Caldes medicinal waters. All within the frame of a geography which still keeps its original freshness. The Aigües Tortes and Sant Maurici National Park with its most important phenomenon: the WATER, with over 50 lakes spread around the magnificent valleys of glacial origin.
The impressive natural variety of this area requires special protective measures, already indicated in the Park itself and which should be respected by all visitors, in order to keep it in the best possible conditions and to maintain the values (it’s worthwhile to point out the protected species like the deer, the blackcock, the snow partridge, the lammergeyer or the golden eagle and amphibians like the Pyrenees newt).
By own car you must take the N-230 road from Lleida to Pont de Suert, just 121 km the shortest way (it takes you 1 h 53 minutes). Then after 2 km, you’re going to take the L-500 Barruera Road for 18.8 km (20 minutes), passed the village you take the first right L-501 and for about 5.4 km (6 minutes) you get BOI. Everywhere in the Valley it’s likely to rest in a Rural House, Camping or Hotel, even if you are wealthier you can pay for an apartment, if you like. Wherever you eat you can eat richly and go with tasteful food. If it’s winter and the snow has come, what it’s sure, you can snowing in the BOI-TAHÜLL station. HAVE A GOOD STAY!
