As for clothes, I think that fashion tell us what is exactly "in"every season. And normally, the in thing is just the opposite to what was trendy the previous season. In my opinion, that is because we live in a society of consumerism and we follow the dictations of fashion, spending a lot of money. With regard to hairstyles, there are the typical long and shoulder-length hair, and there are also haircuts which are more modern (for example, that one short with the two locks ahead longer). Tattoos and piercings came in some years ago, there was like a fever, but now I think they are on the way out. About music there is no fashion, I mean, everyone prefers a kind of music (or several sorts of it) to the others, but if you're mature you don't change your own taste just because the in music is another each every minute.
