Born in New York in 1958 to a Danish father and an American mother, he spent several years living in Venezuela, Argentina and Denmark.
He speaks fluent English, Spanish, Danish, and French, but he also speaks Swedish and Norwegian reasonably well.
As he lived in Argentina as a child, he is a fan of "San Lorenzo of Almagro", from Buenos Aires City.
One of his first major successes was when he played Aragorn in "The Lord of the rings"
