The Polar Bear
An adult male weighs around 350–680 kg while an adult female is about half that size and measure 2.4–3 m. When pregnant it can weighs as much as 499 kg.
Its body is adapted for cold temperatures, for moving across snow, ice, and open water, and for hunting the seals which make up most of their diet.
If climatic trends continue polar bears may become extirpated from most of their range within 100 years. It is found throughout the Arctic Circle and adjacent land masses
Its population is 20,000-25,000 polar bears worldwide. It tends to frequent areas where sea ice meets water, such as polynyas and leads to hunt the seals that make up most of its diet.The polar bear is carnivore.It has an extremely well-developed sense of smell.
Its hearing is about as acute as that of a human, and its vision is also good at long distances.The polar bear is an excellent swimmer and it can swim 6 miles/hour.
It is the most carnivorous member of the bear family, and most of its diet consists of ringed and bearded seals.It rarely lives beyond 25 years.
