Examples of verb forms:
(Newpapers: The Independent, The Guardian, The Observer, The Daily Telegraph)

1) Present Perfect:
- Ken Livingstone has beaten Oona King to the Labour nomination for London mayor.
- President Mahmout Ahmadinejad of Iran has accused the US government of orchestrating the 9/11 attacks to prop up Israel


2) Present Perfect Passive:
- Ahmadinejad compared the almost 3,000 people who died on 9/11 to the hundreds of thousands who had been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- The dispute had been brewing ever since Springsteen had been made aware that the contracts he had signed with Appel in 1972 meant he would never see the full benefits of his work.

3) Past Simple Passive:
- A further meeting between Gordon Brown and Nick Clegg was arranged for Sunday night.
- Once he had finally announced that he would go, Brown talked as if he were reconciled to it.
