My opinion about television and reality shows

I don't enjoy watching commercials. Actually I don't watch them almost at all.
Game shows same as soap operas and chat shows are very popular in Finland.
TV programmes have content ratings in Finland. In addition for example horror films are represented very late so that children should already be in bed.
I have not a favourite channel because I watch TV quite seldom.
I haven't ever considered being a contestant on a reality show. I think these kinds of shows are not my cup of tea. I am not competitive at all.
We have four remote controls in our living room: two for a video player, one for CD-player and one for DVD-player. My 7-year-old daughter loves to watch cartoons and movies.
For a while I am very interested in sport: cross-country skiing, skating, horse riding etc. Couple of years ago I watched Bold and Beautiful. In addition I follow sometimes news and some documentaries about animals. I don't remember any boring programmes because I turn television off if there is some boring programme.
Dancing competitions and game shows which offer information about literature, history, biology, geography etc are very popular in Finland.

I think show producers absolutely shouldn't be allowed to involve children in reality show. I agree with counsellors that reality shows have risks to the health of participants. "Alone at Home" is not a good idea at all. Children or their parents want to win big money for participating in a show and they don't think about the risks to their health. After this kind of show children can suffer sleepless, mental and physical problems. If children were able to play, run and laugh they would be healthier.

Advantages of reality shows:
1. You learn a lot about TV production.
2. You can win big money.
3. You can learn the rules of a competition.

Disadvantages of reality shows:
1. You have to take time off work.
2. There can be risks to your health.
2. You can meet very nasty people.

Good work Maarit - I know, I don't watch those shows either. We had a thing called Big Brother in Spain. Everybody watched it the first season, because it was a novelty. Apparently it still exists - and this is nearly ten years later! I wonder who watches that junk...
