Why do we like horror films?

Why do we like horror films?

Do we really like watching blood and guts everywhere, spiders that grow as big as horses and eat you up? I don't know, maybe human nature is that twisted and we actually enjoy watching horror movies. I personally hate them. I don't see anything exiciting in watching people being tortured and being in tension for hours. So I can't really understand why we should pay for two hours of fear, disgust and terror, if they are consider negative feelings?

We all get very upset when someone scares us by hiding behind a door but we just like to go to the movies knowing we're going to freak out. Isn't it ironic?

Maybe a person is not actually afraid while watching the film or maybe the euphoric sense of relief at the end of it makes everythign worth it. I don't really know. Maybe it's just that people like to experience terror and relief at the same time.

When I was young, I was curious with the underground world. I couldn't imagine what the hell or heaven was like. I saw many horror films which described the underground world. It was very exciting. This feeling also appeared when I saw other kind or horror movies.

Nowaday I am no longer young. No longer I believe the underground world is what the movies showed. No longer I like horror movies at all because the memory of horrior scenes makes me frightened when I was alone in dark.

I don't like to watching scary movies too.

I feel just the same. Why do we have to pay for two hours to be horrified. For the same reason, I don't like sad movies. I don't like feeling sad after watching one.

I think this is the reason why most TV programmes have good endings. If an ending is not a sound one, I just feel that righteousness is not upheld. This will project a wrong idea to a dwindling society.

The influence of the media is so great. It can foster good principles deep in the mind of everyone as well as bad. The government should look closely the shows produced on TV. Families may be strengthened and the community would be happier.
