My name is Clara and my family name is Sardà. The most common surnames in my country are the ones finished by "ez", like Fernandez, Rodriguez and so on...but, in Catalonia are also common family names like Martí, Soler, Casanovas,...My family name is not very common but there is one famous TV showman that has it, as well, he is Xavier Sardà.
In my country there are people called Fuster, or Carnicer, that refers to professions (the sam as in England). And usually, when you meet some people, you can use their name, you don't need to use their surname to be polite. And, here, we use pet names to call our beloved persons, for example carinyo, guapa/o, and so on.
