Snakes & Poetry

At first the reading of the unit made me feel uncomfortable cause I'm not used to read poetry in english, less if we are talking about poetry of the 20ths. In fact I'm not used to read it in spanish, so the matter itself just sounded hard!

As I went on with the reading I felt more confidence and started enjoying the story. I really loved the simplicity the writer used describing feelings about the snake and the complexity that simboliced, the paralellism with his feelings about the society.

I like the poetry in general and have read some of them but it feels difficult because requires an emotional or mystical mood I'm not feeling like. I suppose that when I find the perfect poem for me it will be like falling in love, but this has not happened yet.

About the snakes I can only say that they are not part of my life, they have never been. I am not interested in them and they don't attract me at all.

LOL! I'm glad to hear that in the end you were able to appreciate the poem - it seems to me you understood it very well. I'm not a snake fan either, but there is something very special when we see a wild animal, be it a snake or a dolphin or an eagle. For us city people seeing a wild animal is a rare thing and it always makes me happy that there still are wild animals out there. It gives me hope!
Can I help you with some sentences?
I'm not used to read poetry= This verb form doesn't exist. Here the best option is present simple + an adverb: I don't usually read poetry
and the complexity that simboliced,= Maybe you can say:.. and the complex symbolism of the snake?
I like the poetry in general and have read some of them = I like poetry in general and I have read some, but... (poetry here is an uncountable noun)
