I prefer process approach because for me is more important that the students acquire an effective communicative process where they have the opportunity to explain their ideas without grammatical rules. Only communication.
what contexts might one be more preferable than the other? For example, think of teaching children, teaching businesspeople, teaching English for academic purposes, exam preparation etc.

What other activities for teaching writing have worked for you?
R= Role play writing, a perfect story, chat, rewrite sentences, writing consequences.
