Unit 4 - Practising Grammar Final task

a) One thing kids love is role-play activites. If by any chance we can record those role plays, success is achieved. Kids rely on their phones for absolutely everything and I know we could start a discussion here whether we need to encourage them to use the phones even more, but when we are trying to motivate kids and help them learn at the same time, well, I think we are entitled to! Phones are much more than whatsapp and games; they can be educational tools too.
I would first do the written exercise in pairs, correct the possible answers in class and then allow them time to prepare the different situations where they would use the structure and the answers. Then after editing we would show them in class.
Something else we could do…We could organize a contest and decide on the best video and give them a prize, tickets to Port Aventura, for example.
b) Of course we would have to write the sentences in class and then correct them before trying to make the grammar exercise more communicative, I believe there has to be written practice when students are learning. I also think individual work is needed, kids have different learning speeds. Since I am a visual person, I would continue with videos, kids could show us their homes in pairs and then describe a room and what they can see there and ask questions to each other and after that compare both houses.
We could also make copies of the picture and write ‘false sentences’ and ask kids to correct them in pairs.

A) I would do the pair work and give students some sentences with context. They need to find mistakes and correct them in pairs using the right modal verbs. After that, students imagine the situation and ask for some advice.
B) Working with the furniture and prepositions of place I usually use the spot the differences or describing your room to your partner who has to draw by the live listening. Then they show the rooms and check the understanding.
In some cases I ask my students to write True False sentences and correct them.

First, look at the practice activities below. What structures are they designed to practise?
a) They are desined to practice modal verbs. To make it more communicative, I would give each students one remark to make one negative and positive advice, then I would change the papers in chane and the next student had to add some more advices, so that the paper has to make the whole circle of students, then each student take one paper and in pairs they discuss and check it, were the statements apropriate or not. Then we make group discussion, correct mistakes and share some interesting ideas.

b) I would make students in pairs give each other instructions about room of their dream, their partner will draw, then in pairs check the drawing and discuss, what was right , what not. share the ideas, answer the personal questions generated by the teacher.
