Lotteries/ New stories

- The first lottery was launched in 1994. 20 years later, it has created 3,700 millionaires.
- 85% of winners choose to remain anonymous.
- 99% of surveyed winners still play National Lottery games after they have won, and 70% are convinced that they will win again.
- People are more likely to do the following than win the lottery:
Die from an asteroid strike: 1 in 74,817,414
Become a movie star: 1 in 1,505,000
Get struck by lightning: 1 in 1,101,000
Bowl a 300 game: 1 in 11,500
- 52% of winners who won $1 million or more left their jobs

Lottery Winner with Nine Lives
The man with nine lives is none other than an ordinary Croatian music teacher who has lived through some extra-ordinary events. Frano Selak survived a derailed train crash, has been sucked from an airplane, survived a bus crash into a river, escaped his flame-ridden car (twice!), has been hit by a bus, and survived accidently driving off a cliff. Then, in 2003, he was the lucky winner of $1 million in the Croatian lottery!

Hi Daniela, thanks for the story about the Croatian music teacher. What a life - it's a crazy story.. but I think I prefer a more tranquil life, even if I don't win the lottery! :)
See you,
Pieter

In Spain there are two big lotteries: "El Gordo de Navidad", a few days before Christmas. After two week, "El Niño" (the child) on January 6. A family from Alicante made a lot of money in a few days, after buying tickets at the two lotteries. This is story is true!
