Middle Youthers in your country

Middle Youthers in your country

Postby Adry S » Sat May 26, 2018 4:34 pm

Mexico is full of muppies (middle-aged urban professionals) they are the new middle youthers of this generation.
They don't conceive reality without technology. Twitter is their source of information, Instagram, and Facebook is the way they socialize.
They crave for digital acceptance posting pictures of traveling, gourmet food, and healthy life, where the "likes" are a contest of popularity and self-acceptance.
Actually, they have higher education, they speak several languages, and are concern about the environment.
This urban tribe is the ones you follow on Instagram, the ones that made blogging a living and the entrepreneurs that are ruling the world.
They don't care much about the future, they like to live every day as it was the last one.

Spain is packed with middle youther and yubbies but you can also finf hippies or yuppies.
If I had to go for a label myself, it would the middle youther one, however, I only use technology for professional reasons and not at all for socialising. In fact, I cant cope with the new form of socialising, with means of technology and I truly feel sometimes that I'm out of the game because I simply dont check or answer my e mails or whatsapps... as for facebook or the likes....I dont have any of them and I couldnt be less interested in getting them... so Will I end up socially excluded?
Anyway, coming back to the topic, I guess we cannot be limietd to a unique label or we should consider that each label comprehends different sublabels!

In Argentina, the young and single and no child professional community is huge. I really have no idea how they live since I have a 10 year old daugther and run all day with work, her activities, and home chores. I must say it is preyty stressful some days and I do need at least 20 minute meditation time everyday in order to cope with all the routine. But, I like my life as it is. I find it meaningful and fun.

Thanks for your message Yanina, yes, raising a family is very time-consuming! I'm sure taking time for meditation every day is an excellent way of coping with the stress of daily life. Maybe I should try! :)
See you,

Nowadays in Spain we can meet all kind of socials grups. Spanish society is a melting pot and is very difficult to say if a determinated fashion is in or out. In any case, most of the social groups can coexist witout problems.

In Italy we have different social groups coexisting all together and I think it is normal because each of us has his own way of living but what worries most is that a lot of middle-aged people don't realize they are growing old and despite this, they keep doing what they used to do when they were younger. Maybe they don't accept time goes by or perhaps they don't accept the aging on their bodies but for sure they cannot hide behind an excuse. Life is a wheel and there is a time for all; one to enjoy our nights in a disco pub, another to hang out with our friends and then there is the moment in which you must consider creating a family and having children.
In my opinion it is unthinkable to think about the fashion or about the most fashionable smartphones when you are 45 years old because we are supposed to concentrate all our effort on your family and children.
Maybe I am too old-fashioned but if you have a family or a house, you cannot be distracted by fungible stuffs or worthless interests; you must become an adult.

Ciao Ale,
I almost have the same opinion, but to be true i think that everyone is "free to do what you want to do" like a 90's dance song; many people pretend to look younger than their age and behave the same way, but i think that there's no reason to criticize them regarding having a family and children at a certain age.
In my opinion some of them are in the mood of "realize themselves" living without any adult responsibilities, such as family, children, house, stroller, etc ...
I don't like, if some of them start to criticize whoever don't follow their lifestyle or even would impose their own style; life is beautiful in each little shade/trend/fashion, the most important thing should be try not to disturb or harm other's people life.
