i think the jokes was for the acestors in the history the meaning for who won was the one of warrior of hero of brave .The winner represented the worrior who defeated for examples countries ,populations ,lands and the who was defeated he was sacrified to God,Winners were given gifts and weresurronded of gold jewellery of purfumes.
