In my city, Barcelona, there are some former "new waves" that are "yuppies" or "yubbies" nowadays.
They were people who used to wear blouses with long sleeves and platform shoes, always in black. Besides, they used to wear mohican hairs. They were in the habit of going every weekend to the "disco" to listen to groups such as "The Human League" and "Adam and the Ants". They were likely to take all kinds of drugs, too.
However, they had to change their minds and faced up the new experiences in their lifes: They grow up, they got married, they had children...And, eventually, they had to take up a classical job.
Now, they tend to have good jobs, a lot of money and they live in a modern houses. They are in the habit of spending the weekend with their families at home and they don´t go to the "disco" anymore. Some of them are "yuppies" and others "yubbies". But this is another story.
